GPR40 is considered a potential therapeutic target to enhance insulin secretion in type 2 diabetes; however, its mode of regulation is mainly unknown. A better understanding of the regulation of this receptor is important to meet diabetes research and pharmaceutical industry needs.

The oral presentation will take place within the “Stressing out the B-Cell” symposium from Clinical and Basic Science Stream, December 5th at 9:30 am in the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Pr Marc Prentki has been awarded the 2011 Albert Renold Prize by the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) for "outstanding achievements in research on the islets of Langerhans".
