We provide a complete panel of services for preclinical evaluation of test compounds or potential targets on insulin secretion, glucose and lipid homeostasis, and energy balance via complementary in vivo and in vitro approaches.
The pancreatic beta-cell is at the heart of the pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus, and the vast majority of diabetes drugs under development target ß-cell function. Based on our unique expertise in ß-cell biology we have developed an array of functional tests and experimental models enabling us to examine the mechanisms of a candidate compound on glucose homeostasis from the whole animal to intracellular signaling pathways and to validate potential targets in nutritional or genetic models of diabetes and ß-cell failure.
We also have a unique expertise in the control of energy balance by the central nervous system and are developing state-of-the-art methods such as stereotaxic surgery to deliver drugs or compounds intracerebroventricularly or in specific brain areas.
